Sometimes it's hard to teach kids the importance of turning and stopping. They're skills we take for granted as parents. In some many most cases, it's not really the ability to turn and stop that gets us out of trouble, it's the ability to know when to turn and stop.
Even then, other skills are necessary. Skills like backing up. Oh, and don't forget to always wear your protective gear.
