Riverside Sheriff Shoots at Un-Armed ATV Riders

Press Enterprise reports that a Riverside County California Sheriff shot at an un-armed fleeing ATV rider at Canyon Lake on May 12, 2007.

Sheriff's claimed the person on the ATV (a rhino side by side) ran over the Sheriff when confronted for riding in illegal areas and dragged him for several feet. But witnesses who were at the scene are saying that's not how it went down.

According to the eye witnesses, the Sheriff's approached the Rhino from behind with guns drawn, and the driver got scared and fled. One Sheriff ran at the Rhino and lunged on to it like the Terminator going after Sarah Conner, and fell off. The Sheriff's partner then started shooting at the Rhino. Nobody was hurt except for the lying would-be hero Sheriff.

Since when is it OK for the Sheriff to shoot at somebody who is un armed over a freakin ticket? I hope someone loses their badge over this. It's un-acceptable.
