Chump Change
If you've been here before you can tell; I'm not so much in favor of government regulations regarding ATVs. But there are certain areas *cough*safety*cough* where I think there should be minimal regulations in place to help ensure the safety of people that refuse to be responsible, especially where kids are concerned.
Oklahoma City has a new set of "ridership restrictions" set to go into effect on Nov 1. They include making it illegal to ride as a passenger on an ATV designed for a single rider on public land. Hmph. There's a novel idea.
They're also making it illegal for minors to ride an ATV without a helmet. Ok. Great idea, since some of these parents aren't always reliable enough to make sure their kids are safe.
But wait!
What happens if you're caught without a helmet?
You get fined. Up to, wait for it... $25.00!!
That's right, twenty five dollars. That's what oklahoma city thinks a kid's safety is worth. $25.00
