Oceano Sand Dunes ATV and Off Road Fees to Double

With the state's off-highway vehicle program set to expire in Jan, 2008, it is unclear what may happen if a new deal is not reached, but it could mean the end of Oceano Dunes vehicle access. With that in mind, there is a state bill working it's way through legislature that could extend the deal until 2013, and double the fees for access.

I suppose the state figures it's easier to get agreement from you and me to higher fees with the threat of losing the area all together. To tell you the truth, I'm sick and damn tired of constantly being asked for more money and given less places to recreate in return.

There are a few groups working to stop all these land closures and fee increases that deserve our support, including the American Sand Association, California Off Road Vehicle Association and the American Motorcyclists Association.
