Military Beef: Polaris Ranger Side x Side

You know when the US military gets involved, it's going to be something big. Polaris doesn't disappoint. They teamed up with the US Army a while back to provide All Terrain Vehicles for military applications.

Now Polaris is ready to rumble with a 760cc "Patriot" engine that operates on standard military fuel and packs nearly twice the punch of it's diesel based brethren. This SxS also sports keyless ignition, no-flat tires, comes pre-wired for cool military toys like infra-red. It can also drive in up to 30 inches of water.

Rumor has it that they're working on a six wheeled version.

This looks a lot like the VSE LASSO vehicle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W15Eg5nzUoo), but appears to fall short of some of the LASSO’s performance parameters. The LASSO was specifically build to tackle military off-road situations, where this vehicle appears to be the result of upfitting an existing Polaris product. LASSO has a top speed of 25 mph, carries 3000lbs of payload, and runs on DOT approved tires rather than offroad tires. Offroad tires are soft and get sliced up in the type of rocky terrain that our soldiers are dealing with in Afghanistan.
