Jackson County WI Land Trade for ATV Park OKed

Roy Burlingame recently offered up a 2 for 1 land trade deal to build a contained ATV and OHV trail in Jackson county, WI. The proposed deal was able to move forward when the Jackson County Executive and Finance Committee gave the OK to have the forestry and Parks Committee to go ahead with the land trade in which Burlingame offered 380 acres in Knapp for 190 acres of Jackson county owned land which is right across from the Majestic Pines Casino.
Along with the 60 acre ATV OHV track, Burlingame proposes a 100+ room hotel with convention center, restaurants, stores, an ATV dealer/repair shop, a water park and more. That's a lot of stuff to put in less than 200 acres.
The economic benefit from the project is expected to be over $1 billion annually. Whew! There are concerns about being able to keep up with the required trail maintenance, so they're thinking about tossing in a $20.00 admission fee to the park to help offset the cost. Um, what!? A billion a year and you can groom the trials?
