Florida ATV Ban Attempt Fails Miserably, Personal Responsibility Prevails
Santa Rosa County Florida lawmakers voted 3 to 1 to overturn a ban on ATVs on dirt roads.

The only opposition came from Commissioner John Broxson who said

They're very dangerous. They're very risky, There's a lot of young people involved. I think it's a safety issue.

"It was my concern that one of these 16-year-olds we have driving around on these dirt roads in pickup trucks wouldn't see a 12-year-old on an ATV and hit him head-on. Having now read the law ... it says minors must be under the supervision of a licensed driver, so a 12-year-old should not be on the road alone, anyway."

But the best quote comes from Commissioner Don Salter who said "It's about parenting, It's about parents keeping their kids safe."

Nailed it.

It's good to see some positive progress. That's what can happen when there is responsible ATV activity by responsible and vocal people.
