For the most part, it was a good episode. It looked like a great off-weekend at Glamis. The dunes were glassy and empty of people. What more could you ask for?
Well, you could ask that they didn't burn any pallets. You know, pallets? The wood skids with the nails that end up in the sand the next day? Yeah, those... the ones getting run over by the poor sap in the sand rail or quad next weekend, putting a hole in his paddle tire.
Or better yet, having some other poor sucker's kid step on it and puncture their foot, putting an end to an otherwise great weekend because you have to take Jr. to the hospital for a shot and some stitches. Thanks, Epic Ride!
Seriously, I've been watching this show lately and have been somewhat impressed. Even with some of the over-board advertising by Honda and the other sponsors who are providing the rides, it's a good concept for a show and I hope it continues.
I just wish they would think about the next group that camps in that spot, because chances are, they're going to have to deal with the nails from that huge bon-fire of pallets Epic Ride left behind.

If you ask me that fire was gay. Rick Johnson is the original bad boy, so why would he care about a flat tire. They should've had a real fire with an extra 20 gallons of race gas on top. Add in a couple AR - 15 sub machine guns and a M - 1000 and it would of been a real show. How old are you ? You must be one of those old tree huggin' lizard lovin street bike guys or somthing ?

Yeah, I'm an old guy, if you consider 42 old. I have 2 kids. I have an AR-15 and about 2 dozen other guns. I have a bit of respect for others, too, and I still know how to have a good time without being stupid. It's a pity there are people who think they can do anything they want without consequences. It's a pity there are people doing the things you suggest that are making it harder and harder to keep what little area is still left open for us ALL to play in.

Matt, Good point about the pallets. I would suggest if someone is going to burn them that they drag a big old speaker magnet thru the fire pit when their done. Pallets are usually free and do make good fire wood so why not think of others and clean up after yourselves. Question for Jack? Don't you think it sucks when you are inconvienenced with a flat or something that could have been avoided by a little foresight on someone elses part? Keep up the good work Matt!

Was there an endagered species killed during the filming of Epic Ride Glamis. I saw people holding up a Kangaroo Rat and laughing about it like it was a big joke. There are 5 species of Kangaroo Rats listed as endangered .Environmentalist groups have been using the endangered species protection act for years to try and close Glamis and other off road usage areas. Many thousands of man hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been spent in the fight to keep Glamis open. Why would some idiot load the environmentalist cannon on national TV by making a mockery of the killing of a possible endangered species.I guess as long as you make your Hollywood dollars it doesn't matter if our children and Grandchildren have anyplace left to ride. What a slap in the face to all of the folks who have worked so hard to keep Glamis open.I think you Hollywood guys should just buy a track or movie set in Hollywood and do your riding there since you can't follow the rules in the Desert.

I was on the show and I was the one who held up the dead kangaroo rat. The rat was already dead from the sand storm the day before.
I found him while laying on the sand near "olds" I was running my hands through the sand and found the rat. Why would we kill a kangaroo rat and then film it? common sense people.
as for the ar-15 comment. I brought mine out. 2 of them to be exact... everyone was tired at the end of the shoot wanting to get the heck home so we didnt shoot.

Thanks for clearing that up, Rob. I read elsewhere that that was the case with the dead rat, but never posted to that effect. Overall, I think the show does great things for off-roaders. Much more good than bad, IMNSHO. Yeah, there are a few things the enviro-whacko's could use against us, but for the most part, it paints a great picture for us.

No problem Matt... I did have concerns about the pallets a bit, but I really had no say in the matter. Plus, I cut my hand pretty band from a large plastic spoon i was using to cook. It went straight into my palm. If you look close near the camp fire scene you can see a piece of paper towel wrapped around my hand to prevent blood going every where. My hand was more important at the time =(
