environmental extremists will do just about anything to close public land, any public land, and private land, to ATVs and off roading. They'll even go as far as to say that "ATVs destroy the ground"
That's a new one for me. I was pretty much un-aware that you could "destroy the ground". Well, I guess you could dig holes in it. But is that destroying it? Or moving it? I suppose those environmental wacko's live in caves? Natural caves? I suppose they don't eat? I suppose they don't do anything that disturbs nature in any way. They just live their lives fluidly with rocks and trees and never have any kind of impact on anything, right?

Well-- I have been hiking on some trails near my house for over 20 years. In the last 4 years ATVs have started using the same trails. They loosen the soil, the rain washes away the loose dirt. The trails have been destroyed in just 4 years. So I would say ATVs destroy the ground.
