Dual Sport Motorcycles Defined

Dual Sport Motorcycles are able to ride on the street and off-road

Off roading is huge fun, and hugely popular.
A dual sport motorcycle is a type of street legal motorcycle that is designed for both on and off-road use. It is light weight with longer suspension than street motorcycles, allowing it to be more easily controlled off-road.

Equipment:

They have head and tail-lights, mirrors, a horn, turn signals, a speedometer and all the other features required by the DOT to ride legally on the street.

The tires on a dual sport are kind of across between knobbies and street tires. They have deeper tread than street tires, but lack the bumps (knobbies) of dirt bike tires. While this type of tire does not offer superior performance on either street or in dirt, it is a good compromise of the two. They perform much better on dirt than street tires, as well as performing better on the street than knobbies.

If you want to continue where the road ends, then you might consider a Dual-sport motorcycle. They give you the ability to ride to your off-road destination instead of trailering or trucking your bike.
