Collier County to Keep Roads Off Limits to ATVs
Filed in archive OHV Areas on January 16, 2008

Collier County commissioners in 2006 voted to prohibit ATVs on county roads. This week then voted to continue the ban. Temporarily.
There's 1 likely exception: a four mile section of Turner River Road in the Big Cypress National Preserve that would connect an off-road trail system north and south of Interstate 75. Commissioner Jim Coletta said he will meet with Preserve Superintendent Karen Gustin to discuss that option. Gustin cautioned that opening the stretch of Turner River Road to ATVs would be done only as part of the existing preserve trail system.
Riders would have to buy a $50 permit and have a driver's license, and their vehicles would have to pass an inspection, preserve specifications and follow a 30 mph speed limit.
I wonder if they'll allow non-highway ATVs on.
