Cheap Cars, ATVs, and Safety
So you've decided that now is the time to buy an ATV for your family. You want to be able to spend some quality time with your teenagers ripping up the dirt and grass out back. You've made a great decision, ATVs can be great fun when used responsibly. As long as you enforce the helmet rule and accompany your child on their outings it can be a great time. Most used ATVs are a heck of a lot cheaper than even the cheapest of cheap cars, and for that reason they might keep your kids entertained long enough to skip the big first car purchase for a few years. Though you should start preparing now, because ATVs can not go to the mall.
A lot of other parents are going to be quick to jump on your case. They will say that ATVs are dangerous, a nusiance, etc. Of course the same parents will gladly send their youngsters out into the word in second hand cars that look like they can't make it down the block and back.
The truth is that second hand cars are safe as long as the person driving is responsible and the same goes for ATVs. So go out for a few practice runs with the kids, make sure you go over all the safety lessons and don't second guess your decision. Kids will be kids, from the moment they become a teenager they are fascinated by things that move on wheels. It is part of growing up.
