Canadian Province May Allow ATVs on Roads to get to Gas, Restaurants

New Brunswick drivers may have company on certain highways soon, in the form of All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) making their way to get goods and services such as gas, food etc.
The bill would provide a riding zone along certain highways to allow ATVs and snowmobiles better (and legal) access to gas, food and trails. They haven't been prevented from doing it before, but they want to make it legal to use the right of way, and do it safely.
There is currently a 7.5 meter buffer zone between traffic lanes and the side of the highway where others are not supposed to go, but the legislation could make it so the ATVs could travel closer to the traffic.
Governments in other provinces
, and in Maine, are being consulted because they already have this sort of law.Permalink: Canadian Province May Allow ATVs on Roads to get to Gas, Restaurants
