BLM to Offer "Risk Free" OHV ATV Sound Test

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is offering voluntary sound testing for off-highway vehicles including off-road motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), Rhinos/Mules or other vehicles used on public lands.
The BLM says they're trying to give OHVers an opportunity to see if their rigs are meeting sound specs for Ca.
The sound checks are by appointment only. That's right, you can't just drive up and have them jam their listening device up your tailpipe and tell you if you're legal or not. Noooo. They want your name and address, your registration info, make, model etc etc.
Why do they want to know who you are? I dunno, you'll have to ask the BLM. *wink wink, nudge nudge*
Anyway, as Voice said… I find it hard to fully support a sound limit on my OHV in a place where:
A) Virtually all users are making OHV noise (there's no residential)
B) My OHV is limited but only through haphazard or arbitrairy enforcement
C) Many other sound creation items are not limited or those limits are even more haphazardly or arbitrairily enforced.
D) No fair method of testing has been established for ALL OHV's… (only for manufactured OHV'S)
