ATVers in Collier County Duped by Bureaucrats

ATVers in Collier County Duped by Bureaucrats

ATV enthusiasts have been duped again. This time in Collier County, where the Picayune state forest was recently shut down to ATVs. Left without a place to ride, officials promised to open a permanent park near Lake Trafford. In 2009.

In the mean time, a temporary park was supposed to open last July but the project got shelved because of lack of an environmental study.

"It stinks. It royally stinks.

I think it's another gimmick the county is trying to pull on the working class," said Stacie Alleman, who is an ATV advocate.

Officials say it's an "honest mistake". Of course it is… How many times have I heard that from the BLM when they closed areas I ride in?

This is just another way to get ATV areas closed. This is also why you, as an ATV enthusiast, cannot let ANY MORE AREAS BE CLOSED. I don't care what they promise you in return.

I think it is ridiculous that we are required to register our atvs.Yet the is know where in our county to ride them.We were promised land and it has not happened.I would like to know how it is local govt. signs deals and and does not keep up thier end of the bargain.I know if we get a summons for riding an atv we must pay the fines by a certain or risk going to jail. Why is it differant for the govt? They sign a binding contract.
