Working to Eliminate ATV Use on Private Land
Recent legislation in Harris MN, defining what an ATV track is, snuck in a nice tidbit that keeps the lines of legal ATV use blurred.
The legislation was created to address conflicts with residents about ATV use on their private property, something regular readers here are all too familiar with. It was designed to address current areas being used to ride by residents to ride.
But when asked whether this legislation, that severely limits ATV use on private land already, would be used in future cases where someone buys property and designs a riding area according and adhering to the current ordinance, then receives complaints from neighbors about the area, if new laws would be put in place to limit that activity, they refused to speculate. That basically opens the door to even more legislation later.
How convenient.
