ATV Size Restrictions Based on Child's Age Instead of Size and Experience

Children grow and learn at different paces. Blanket legislation that does not take size and experience into consideration is dangerous, irresponsible and unfair
As all three of my regular readers here at Under My Helmet will tell you, my kids can ride. They both started on the electric quad at 2 years old, the youngest was literally riding before he could walk.
There is a bill floating around the Senate that wants to restrict what size ATV my kids can legally ride on public land based on their age. Not their size, nor their experience.
Their age.
And I'm here to tell you that my 5 year old is pushing, (if not already past) 50 lbs! He's almost as tall as his 10 year old cousin. And he can ride the wheels off quads and motorcycles. But not if this bill gets passed. Imagine my kid when he's 11 years old, and has been riding for nearly a decade, forced to ride a 70cc quad that will barely get him around the small inclines in our back-yard track.
