ATV Safety Reminder: Use Common Sense with your Kids

ATV Safety Reminder: Use Common Sense with your Kids

Off road recreation is quickly rising in popularity. Sped a weekend in the dunes, desert or your favorite camping/riding spot, and you'll see more and more families riding together. It's interesting to see a group of ATVs ride by, single file, with an adult in front and back, and the kiddies safe and sound in between.

Of course, that's not all you see. I cringe every time I see a child (or group of them) riding away from camp by themselves, with no adult supervision. As I've said, ATVs are not babysitters. Turning a child loose on a quad can end badly. Very badly.

Supervise your kids when they ride. Ride with them, or confine them to an area that is easily supervisable. (Is that a word??) Letting your kids get out of sight for just a minute can be disastrous. Keep them near you, or risk never having them near you again.
