ATV Hatred Morphs into New Math

In this image, you see a home owner attempting to measure ruts in the mud near his driveway which are claimed to be 18 inches deep by John Myers, reporter for the Duluth News Tribune. The article talks about the controversy in MN to open more area for ATV OHV use which should help decrease congestion problems on the few open trails that are currently available.
Instead, these people want to close more areas. I'm used to that.
At first I was going to base this post on that topic, until I saw that picture that is clearly trying to make canyons out of ruts. I have a hard time believing 18 inch ruts from ATVs that typically have much less than a foot of vertical clearance between the wheels. I figured this was as good a topic as any to point out how much fact some people are willing to change to fiction in order to make a point.
