ATV Accident Statistics

ATV safety is a big issue with me. As a father of 2 toddlers who have wheels on their feet instead of toes, and an avid off-roader and ATV owner, I'm even more sensitive to ATV safety where kids are concerned. I spend a lot of time at places like ATVSafety.gov and other sites that promote ATV safety. I also spend a lot of time scouring the web on this topic.
Lately there's been a large amount of abuse of ATV accident statistics by several groups, and un-countable news agencies. I try to point them out when I find them. I constantly see reports proclaiming an increase in ATV related accidents and injuries. What I rarely see is the other side of the statistic; the even larger increase in ATV use. That part is conveniently left out because it actually shows that accident/injury rates are going down.
Having statistical proof that it's going down is making it harder to get legislation to ban kids from ATVs outright, and that's a good thing.

Some ATV drivers are dangerous. CBS 4 News Anchor Shomari Stone reports on an accident in Miami.

Im in the same boat. My family and I go out on our ATVs to the sand and the mountains every chance we can. The question is ..is the sport dangerous? Or are there just reckless drivers. check out my blog at: http://ajlounyinjurylaw.wordpress.com/

Last summer I was in a very serious ATV crash and spent a month in the hospital. I'm not a crazy wreckless kid or anything so I'm kinda in support of more ATV safety.

This past september i was in a serious atv accident in which i rear-ended a truck and was thrown through the air into the lane of on coming traffic.I was in he hospital for 3 days. I had to have my middle finger reconnected. So im leaning for a little bit more atv safety.

Yes i have also observed that the accident toll of the ATV's has increased and the most of the accidents are of teenagers who are either careless or don't have enough knowledge about the bike or are too eager to put on a stunt and get injured

Proper general awareness should me made to curb such an incident caused due to reckless driving by the ATV drivers. As these vehicles are sporty youngsters tend to misuse it.
