Alaska ATVs Make Ruts on Trails

That's right, folks! ATVs are making ruts on some trails somewhere in Alaska. Lets find who's responsible and jail them, impound their ATVs and ban anyone else from ever riding an ATV again!
According to the Star Tribune,
Anchorage, Alaska -- All-terrain vehicle riders in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park have created huge, rutted mud holes stretching several miles along some of the most scenic land in the United States, according to conservation groups.
The Wilderness Society, the Alaska Center for the Environment and the National Parks Conservation Association filed a lawsuit last summer to protect the more than 13 million-acre park from recreational ATV users.
More legislation against OHV use. More of your tax money being used against you. More enviro-whackos trying to run your life. Are you tired of it yet?
They're going to do an environmental impact statement on the area to try to get ATVs banned outright. They say they issue 300 permits a year, that's a lot for, oh, 13,000,000 acres. I can see how those 300 ATVs could easily destroy that whole place in just a matter of, um... well, centuries I guess.
They are willing to compromise, though, by offering to leave a few trails open while they decide how best to close down the entire area.

This is just more proof to me that atv riders really don't care about the land on which they ride. There are more then enough trails and backroads out-of-sight on which you can tear up the surface as much as you want. I see rampant ATV misusage every day, and have had at least two riders' vehicles confiscated by the troopers for improper usage. I don't understand why you have to highmark on borough seeded ground, ride on paved roads when you have trailers and trucks to move them and plenty of trails to ride, and create trails across borough land where they are not needed. Sure, there may be only a few bad apples, but one bad apple spoils the whole barrel. As long as you insist to be discourteous to the land and residents, the citizens and state will push to cut back on how much they have to see you.
